I really like the colours you chose for this granny square, they remind me of flowers in spring!

How cool! I was blog-searching for granny squares (‘cos I just blogged about my own) – and came across your post! The cool thing is: I used to read your blog, but I somehow lost my link to it a while back! Going to add it to my Google Reader right now! =)

I was just thinking the Granny Squares could also work as cup coasters.

I made my first ever square last night! It’s a little messy – don’t think i’ve quite got the hang of joining rounds yet, but I’m so proud. This has been a very long week of cursing crochet and throwing the wool down in a funk. Something obviously clicked last night.

    Great colours Pip!

I never progressed beyond chain stitch when I was a little girl, but proper crochet is on my list of things to learn this year. My mum will teach me. She told me a story recently that she taught herself to crochet out of sheer determination after her first husband died in 1971 (with 4 kids between 9 months and 12 years).

It seems that crochet was her comfort during that time.
