I feel like I am always having a lot of feeeeelings here. So how about we just look at some good things instead?!
For one, its brilliant to look at good things … and often quite bolstering. Let’s do it.
And also? I’m going to save the feelings for my book, because that feels like a better place for them! It’s out next year if you’re into feelings. But okay if you’re not.
Here is some good stuff for nice people, as advertised …
+ Something to cook
Brown Butter and Thyme Potato Cake at Honest Cooking
+ Something to knit
Acorn Jumper pattern by Junko Okamoto
+ Something to do to your hair
Pretty ‘do by Gia Tovar hair
+ Something to pop on
Animal print dress by Matti Pikkujamsa
+ Something to marvel over
Insect brooches by Peresvetti
+ Something to remember
+ Something to listen to (link)
But … one little story that has a COUPLE of feelings but I promise it’s not too fraught …
Because I am on a tight budget at the moment, I am careful about my food and market shopping.
Sometimes I CONSIDER ordering Uber Eats when I am so so so tired and wish someone would make me dinner. Tonight I NEARLY ordered from my favourite pizza place and then I thought – ‘Don’t waste your pennies, Pip!
I tossed my phone on the couch and LO AND BEHOLD somehow the COUCH ORDERED ME UBER EATS. The phone buzzed and my hypothetical pizza was now real and arriving in 25 minutes. Praise be!
It was a good feeling because a) it was an accidental pizza and b) a COUCH did a thing which is rare.
Gosh it was actually such a brilliant turn of events – Tropical because I love pineapple on my pizza and SHOOOOOSH about that.
So now it is POURING with rain and I hope everyone is not getting their homes inundated and I am sorry that I like it washing away the humidity and sticky days and possibly the COUCH made me like this heavy rain that might be making people’s cars and bathroom floors flood.
Yes. I blame the couch. Sorry for liking the rain.
The end.
x pip

OH HI I’M ALSO TRYING TO BE SUPER-BUDGETY WITH FOOD.
Have you seen this? It’s from a food and cooking blog – they came up with a sort of create-your-own-recipe game you can use to invent new dishes, that can use up things you have hanging about that need using up. https://food52.com/blog/18824-play-this-game-plan-your-dinner I always have a problem with cooking because I get too reliant on recipes, but that means that I end up with all of these weird little odds-and-ends leftovers that are too small for any recipe and then I don’t know what to do and the food goes bad. This definitely would help me sort it out (I already have ideas about the pasta bake one, to use up some stuff in my fridge right now).
Maybe the couch needed that pizza just as much as you! The best. *hug* X
one of the things I love most about your blog, is that you don’t shy away from the feelings. I also love all the interesting places you point us to, so many things I would never have known about if not for your good things posts.
cheers Kate
Go couch you good thing! And feelings and good things to look at are cool with me
Fun stuff, Pip! You always inspire me. I’m truly sorry you’re going through tough times. Why does life have to be shit sometimes? But everything is going to be ok.
