Gosh. I swear, I am NEVER happier than I am on a Sunday in the midst of a long weekend. It feels so good to have that extra day. Surely there is a way to do this every week…!

So far, I’ve been making delicious things and sewing cute things and reading good things and watching good things…

Making : Mee Goreng as part of Rin’s birthday dinner last night. Happy Birthday Rin! (Rin is my eldest child/adult/person!)

Sewing: two bunnies for our Mirabel Foundation BunAnza! One is adapted from Claire ‘Loobylu‘ Robertson’s pattern (from my first book) and the other is made up this afternoon. The yellow florally one has a yellow pompom for a tail. She’s sort of a cute zombie rabbit, really, with a floral touch. Apart from rabbits, I’ve also started making a quilt. I don’t know. I just can’t stop sewing, all of a sudden! I made a cute floral bag for the BLACK-et I crocheted Rin (which I actually finished in time for her birthday!) It’s called a BLACK-et because it’s very black. Not my usual colourful style, but Rin really loved it and I love Rin, so it all makes complete sense!

Reading: I actually got up early enough to get the newspapers before they were stolen. So I read those. One thing I noticed – columnists are writing list posts, like bloggers do. Do you know what I mean? A list of things with an intro and an outro. Seems legit enough, I guess…

Watching: I am obsessed with Brothers & Sisters. Tomorrow I am going to launch ‘The Festival Of Sally Field’ at my house. I am going to watch Sally Field movies and keep making things and drinking too much tea. I’m totally looking forward to it. I’m going to get up early, to get a head start on Sally.

Also: Did you see that Bill Murray movie St Vincent? It was really good, I thought, up until the cheesy ‘Love Actually-ish’ end. Why did they end it like that? I wish I knew the original ending, because I DO NOT THINK it was the one they went with.

Okay. Well that’s it for now. Just wanted to check in and say hello and talk about stuff, you know?!

x Pip

PS: I could share my noodle recipe and my zombie bunny how-to, if anyone wants them. x

I love your long weekend, Pip, and all the results. I was thrilled to learned you have worked with Claire Rob, too, somehow this had passed me by! The bunny has Claire written all over it. Ha! I watched Singin’ in the Rain last night. First time ever. Gosh I loved it! I also discovered Flow magazine. Perfect for a long weekend. have you read it? i bet you have. Have a happy evening and a cruisey 4 day week… 😉 x

I’m with you on the Sunday of a long weekend – it really is the best isn’t it! And I love that you made a black-et even though you’d much rather crochet colourful stuff – such a selfless act of love 🙂 I also really love the bags you make for your blankies – too cute!

And your bunnies are ace Pip! I decided to crochet a softie this time… My Heartface Bunnykin is a little odd, but she has a big heart! xx

Oh I’d love the noodle recipe and the pattern, I wish I was in the middle of a long weekend too, those are the best. 🙂 Today I’m trying to finish up a crocheting project that I stopped like 2 years ago, and it was like 80% done, I don’t know why I do that sometimes, lol.

My all time favourite movie has Sally Field in it….. Forrrest Gump (big Tom Hanks fan here).

Another vote for the noodle recipe too please! I do love your bunnies. They are adorable, but I’m much more likely to make noodles 🙂
I too love your Black-et – super stylish. I love colour more than the next person, but sometimes, something a bold basic can really set things off. Looks positively snuggly!

I’m always looking for a good noodle soup recipe! (and good crockpot (slow cooker) recipes as well.
I’ve seen too many crock pot recipes that have you do all the work first (meat, veggies, etc. cooked first and THEN added to crock pot…That defeats the whole point of the crock pot, doesn’t it?

My husband and I LOVE Bill Murray..he probably would have agreed with you about the end of this movie though, if he’d had the chance to see it! Our favourite movie of all time is Lost in Translation, and for our anniversary a few years ago he took me to Japan and we stayed at Park Hyatt Tokyo because of that movie (yes, I was very spoilt!). I am almost finished watching Olive Kitteridge, which I taped simply because it has Bill Murray in it, but he has only made a brief appearance so far – luckily it is good for other reasons.

Can I ask what wool and stitch you used for the BLACKet? I think my son might like one like it…

      Hi Jac,
I totally agree re Lost in Translation being the best movie EVER. How good is it?! I love Bill Murray (and Scarlett is so good in it…I feel she’s lost something since that movie)
I love the tone of it – funny, sad, captures that feeling of being a little bit lost in life and not sure what you’re doing, as well as that strange-yet-wonderful-yet-confusing feeling of being in a foreign country where you don’t speak the language. Can’t believe you stayed at the same hotel in Tokyo, amazing!

Isabel, Park Hyatt Tokyo was definitely amazing, we had dinner upstairs in the bar one night…just surreal. 🙂 If you ever get the chance, you must go.

After my husband died I asked friends if they knew what his favourite movie was. Those that hadn’t seen it I invited over for a movie night – maybe not a good idea, I cried so much at the end! Don’t you wonder what Bob said to Charlotte at the end? Apparently some people have tried to enhance and figure out the words, but I like that it is just between them.

Aw man. I would cry too. I am going to watch it again on your fella’s behalf this weekend, in fact. x
