Above are some pics from our shoot. Now that the book is nearly out, I can spill some of the beans.
It was just one day, but it was super busy! Julie Renouf was the photographer (she is ace – as was her assistant!) and Michelle Mackintosh came along to style the book as a super special guest. We also had Team Penguin (including my publisher Kirsten Abbott) on board, of course! And Cam & me. Mais oui!
We also had a very important visit from Katie with her cute-as-a-button baby and her gorgeous puppy (both pop up in the project pages!) I spent a lot of time giving the pup massages and making sure his needs were cared for on-set. A super HUGE thanks to Katie for providing all the living-breathing-cuteness on the day!
I didn’t have a lot of time to take behind-the-scenes type shots, but I think you can get a feel for it from the few I did take? The book is actually really different from my other books, in that there aren’t that many photographs. It’s got a much bigger written element. You will see, soon enough!!
I also made a whole bunch of cute collage-y type things to go in the book. They look like this… (I won’t show you them all because that would spoil the book surprises!)
(They turned out really cute! I really like them!) I think we might make them into cute stationary. Do you think that would be good?
Here’s what my book is about:
“Craft For The Soul is a guide to living a creative and fun life. It’s a reminder to make time for yourself and your friends, with some craft projects, activities and recipes thrown in for good measure. It covers life’s good stuff (and the more annoying darker stuff too) whilst reminding you that you’re really your very own best friend and you should high-five yourself for being so freaking ace. And then you should cook a thing. And make a thing. And phone your friend for a jolly good gasbag.”
Phew. Okay. So that’s it for today’s peek!
Craft For The Soul : How To Get The Most Out Of Your Creative Life

Dear Pip,
I thank you very much for your nice comment on my blog!
And I thank you for all the wonderful inspiration that you have already given me!
(so much Pompoms in my life…)
I am very excited about your new book, I hope it will be available in Germany!?
many greetings,
Kerstin
Congratulations Pip, amazing work! Looking forward to it x
Congratulations Pip. The collages are beautiful, as is the rug, the old school travel posters, and the pom pom wreathed pup. No doubt the book is too! Well done on all the hard work and I hope it makes millions x
Oh Pip you make me laugh! Your book looks incredibly and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy or five! Yes please I want that stationary! Maybe see you in Melbourne this weekend? Big love

Squeal! How exciting…loving it before I have even seen it! x
I just love the para describing what your book is about… sounds fan-bloody-tastic! High fiving YOU first for being so freaking ace! 🙂
Pip, the dog is looking singularly unimpressed with the pom poms around its neck. If it was one of my Kelpies it would be getting its partner in crime to rip them off. Great Photos. Good Luck with the book.
My dogs are pompom destroyers.
I am so impressed that Bentley did not eat them!
Bentley. What a perfect name for him, cool, dignified, slightly superior with a trace of rascal hidden away in those eyes.
Pip! How great is it that it is April, and soon this book will be available for us all to read! Some things: I don’t tend to buy books because a) I work in a library and b) I’m a student and therefor have no book-buying dollars. I bought Craft for the Soul, though. I feel like this book is going to be very special. I have loved all of the peaks so far. The blanket on the cover of the book is my absolute favourite – did you make it? Is that a silly question? Happy book release month!
Well. KNOW that I really appreciate your support. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. (And I did make that blanket! Yes!) xxx
Will Craft for the Soul be available in the U.S.
soon?
I will find out! x
