I am sitting in my office with Craft Victoria’s Craft Cubed program all spread out next to my cup of tea, thinking about which events I might go to, if I have some windows of time in the next few weeks. It’s not easy to think about this, because there are so many great things on, I am not sure how to choose!!!
There are one hundred and twenty two gazillion crafty workshops, crafty career events and exhibitions too. This is the perfect way to gather some inspiration and spark some fresh ideas I think. Even if you are not in Melbourne, there are lots of links to click through to, so you can FEEL like you were able to attend!
Here are some faves for today. (I have lots of other faves too!)
Please add your favourites (or any mini reviews of Craft Cubed) in the comments section too!

Exhibition: I’m quite excited about going to see Needle Work Needle Play this week, because a few great people I love are part of it. Emma Greenwood, Evie Barrow and the lovely Cat Rabbit are amongst a slew of super stitchers exhibiting at The Brunswick Street Gallery. You should go to that, dudes. It’s on from now until the 23rd of August.
Talk: Craft Online: The Next Level looks pretty amazing, too. It’s a walk through social media success for creatives and it features the rad Kat Higham and Michelle Whitehurst. I’m totally into social media and I think everyone has a different way of approaching it. So that’s a corker too. (This might be sold out?)

Workshop: Thread Den’s Craft Focus Weekend : Craft and weekend should always be slotted into the same sentence, I think. This workshop is all about PATCHWORK. It’s super good to get some tips from an experienced crafter when it comes to things with lots of straight lines, I think. It’s nice to learn the best ways of matching up your seams, for instance (especially when doing TRIANGLE patchwork!)
Workshops/Swap: RMIT Brunswick Events: There are quite a few great things happening at RMIT’s Brunswick campus, including the super gorgeous Mason’s of Rebound Books re purposing books to benefit the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, The Clothing Exchange fashion swap AND a rad macrame workshop by Smalltown (below – who look pretty amazing!) ACE.
Seminar: Craft and Design As A Career: I am going to this. It features all kinds of ace people like Beci Orpin, Hello Sandwich, Angela D’Alton and MORE! Tickets are selling fast so get in quick!
Open Studio: Victoria Mason Open Studio: 18th August (11am til 3pm) at 5/19-35 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. This used to be my studio too. You will totally love visiting Vic because she has the cutest little shop and the fanciest jewelry making equipment… and because she’s lovely. And it’s her birthday TODAY!

Residency: Harvest Textiles vs Hello Sandwich: Ebony is doing a residency at Harvest Textiles until August 22nd. I think you might like to go and meet her! (Especially if you missed out on her workshops!)
Exhibition: Feather Your Nest: at the cutesy/crafty/ace emporium Gleaners Inc in Brunswick. This exhibition is showing until August 31st.
Market: Craft Hatch: The very great Craft Hatch market will be held on 1 September at 1000 Pound Bend.
Workshop/Event/Exhibition: The PomPom Prom. Argh. I love pompoms. This looks amazing-great. A whole two days of pompommy events in Castlemaine, directed by the lovely Douglas and Hope. Don’t you want to go?! Say yes!
What are you going to? Or what would you like to go to, if you were here in Melbourne? AND did you already go to some of these events? Tell us more!
Let’s get crafty! Let’s make stuff!
