People can be great, can’t they? I think they can.

Sometimes you might read the news and doubt the goodness that’s out there, pinging around the place, but if you read this news right here on my blog, you will be persuaded otherwise (even if it’s just for a little while!)

When I did a little call-out for handmade rabbits for the kids The Mirabel Foundation supports, I thought I would get around ten. The final count is actually 110 which makes me realise that a) you don’t have to nag people to get stuff done, often people just get on with it sans the bombarding pleas and b) people are great. Oh wait. Also c) bunnies are super cute/fun to make and d) it’s going to be Easter before we know and it that means BUNS!

The bunnies head off to Mirabel this week. They’ll be an important part of the Easter party the Mirabel kids enjoy each year. You can read more about the work The Mirabel Foundation does here.

If you contributed to this cute handmade appeal I want to thank you for helping me. When you have a (fairly) busy blog it’s important to  use it to do good things. Eight years of Softies For Mirabel, plus Hearts for Mirabel and now the Mirabel Bun-Anza have all turned out to be really good (also friendly/squishy) things! Thanks for ensuring that my blog is not always about the stuff I’m doing, but about the things you are doing too.

x Pip

That is so fantastic, I didn’t hear about it to join in this year but would love to contribute next year. My daughter has just sent over 300 handmade toys to Ghana ( https://creativityandfamily.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/over-300-teddies-ready-to-be-shipped-to-ghana/ ) it is so special to make a difference in someones life, keep up the good work. Sharon x

Those bunnies make me SO HAPPY! You’re really ace, Pip.

FYI, in English we call them “stuffed animals”, which is a bit odd when you think about it, but in my new land they call them “knuffels”. Knuffel (pronounced k-noo-full) in Dutch means cuddle. So when you ask your little friends to get their toy, you say, “Go and get your cuddle”! Just adorable. Language is great.

Oh no – I forgot to send my bunny! I finished it ages ago, and it’s sitting in the craft cupboard… if I send it tomorrow is that ok? Sorry to be such a dummy!

You’re right Pip – people really are great! But I think your blog inspires people to be really great. It is a truly happy, positive place to hang out. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to make a bunny for this project. I will aim for the next Mirabel project. xx

Ahhh crap. My Mirabel bunny is still sitting on the pool table without legs or ears 🙁 Will have to make 2 for next year!

Thanks for organising such a beautiful thing to be part of Pip. It was pure delight to make my bunny. I’m already planning for Xmas (do you have a theme?). I’m chuffed to see my bunny amongst so many beautiful and diverse bunnies-you’ve made my day with this post! So heartening x
