A new series about The Durrells!

March 29, 2016

Every morning I trawl the media sites for good news/interesting stories.  Yesterday, for instance, I loved these stories/posts:

Crafting with David Beckham
Why Tracey Emin married a rock
Jemaine Clement (of Flight Of The Conchords) has a new bonkers podcast
A foodie blog that recreates recipes from great books

TODAY I discovered (thanks to The Guardian) that a brand new series about Gerald Durrell and family – The Durrells – begins airing on iTV (in the UK) next week.

Hopefully I can find a way to snaffle an airing of this at my place (in Australia). Fingers, toes and eyes are crossed.

It looks good, right?!

If you aren’t familiar with Gerald Durrell, he’s a naturalist, conservationist, tv presenter, zoo-keeper and author.

Our family has been quite addicted to this production of My Family And Other Animals for many years – and quite a while ago we read the book of the same name as part of a Meet Me At Mike’s book club type thing. (Long-term readers may remember that!)  I re-read it pretty often because I LOVE IT SO MUCH! If you haven’t read it, you really should. It’s a delight.

Of course, Durrell has written many other books and devoted his life to animal research and conservation – with the brilliant Lee working alongside him for much of that. Find out more about their work/life at Durrell central.

I’m super excited to watch this!

Yippee!
