52 Hellos: Week 22

Krystal wrote to us today, from the Blue Mountains, a lovely ode to looking after cute, small people and making time for creative/cosy/wordy things in between.  Krystal, your envelope is lovely! What a treat it was to pull it out of the mailbox! (And equally nice to read it!)

I wonder which mail art book you are reading? Have you seen my friend Michelle’s book Snail Mail? It’s really good. I think you’d like it.

Breaking up the caviar with something trashy seems totally sensible. I like good literary fiction as much as the next person, but sometimes it’s nice to devour something deliciously superficial too. I wonder if everyone does that, and just doesn’t fess up? Hmmm.

I am currently sitting in front of the heater, with your letter, and a film on the TV. It’s called The Prize Winner. I don’t know if it’s good or not, but the cast includes Laura Dern AND Julianne Moore, so how bad could it be? I will report back soon.

Over the years I’ve watched nearly all of MadMen – I won’t spoil it for you or anyone else who hasn’t seen it, but it’s definitely very gorgeous visually, isn’t it?

I”m excited that Orange Is The New Black Season 3 begins next week. (And I’ve also been watching Enlightened in between doing/watching other things. It’s really good. I am a fan of Laura Dern – she was great in Wild, too.)

Anyhoo, thanks for writing to 52 Hellos! It’s so nice to receive a letter from your neck of the woods!

Hi Pip 🙂 I was thrilled to see my letter on your blog this morning, genuinely stoked! You’ve made my week. I’ve since finished Mad Men and was left a little…unfulfilled? Very pretty, though, to the end. Very excited for OINTB to start. The mail art book I read was Good Mail Day by Jennie Hinchcliff and Carolee Gilligan Wheeler – I am so looking forward to reading Snail Mail. I put in a purchase request for the local library to stock it and I’m top of the waiting list, any day now! Have a choice week 😀

Enlightened, one of my all time favorite shows which was life changing in many ways. Unfortunately it only got two seasons before being canned which is way too bad.

    Hi Pip,

    Indeed what a beautiful presentation.

I will be posting something your way tomorrow. I’ve been wanting to send a little something for a while and was able to give my self the time to do so over this long weekend. Not as lovely an envelope and unfortunately I had to type the main body of my letter so you can read it but I hope that it finds you by this coming Friday.

Thanks for sharing your passions and your time with us through your blog, your book and through radio as well.

    Cheerio

    PatrickC
