Hello

:: 52 Hellos : Week 05

February 5, 2015

52 Hellos is one of my favourite things about my life. I head to the post office most days to check for letters. Then, when I have some spare time, I make a big cup of tea and read one or two.

There were quite a few treasures this week!  (And still a few that I have not shared here yet!) Here’s what the #52hello-ers have been writing about.  (Read on, because you can learn a lot from reading other people’s mail!)

nic

A lovely hello all the way from Bristol. Nic really knows how to write a letter and I think she is the kind of penpal we all want to have tucked away! Thanks for a lovely, long, chatty letter, lady!  I really agree about the heartfelt bit. I always feel so much better about life once I’ve written a letter. You’re onto something there.

sarah

A postcard from Sarah who decided to put a deer on it (and who can argue with that?!) Hello Sarah! Thanks a whole heap for writing to me and #52hellos

lyn

Here’s Lyn’s hello. Lyn really needs to do a house swap with someone in Australia, I think! She’s from Washington in the US if anyone thinks they’d like to help Lyn visit us!

chloe

Chloe wrote a letter to us AND a very important letter to someone else. I wish I was Miss Marple so I could nut out the mystery of who Chloe wrote to and what they thought. Good luck with your letter Chloe! I’m so glad you wrote it, because it was obviously really, really important.

lauren

Lauren has her own really ace 52 project – 52 weeks of gratitude. I love that idea and I think sending thank you letters is actually such a nice/rewarding/cathartic thing to do. Heartfelt, even, as Nic said above. I’m excited to hear where you go in life, Lauren. It took me about 35 years to get on track, so you are WAY ahead of me! Thanks for writing in!!

Write me a letter – or write letters to your friends and family – here’s how #52hellos works!

Leave a comment for our letter writers, won’t you?! Tell them your thought on what they wrote?

The best comment (as judged by me) wins a #52hellos mini-prize pack!

x Pip

Reading these lovely notes was a great way to shake of the Monday morning chill. My 3rd cuppa just wasn’t getting the job done. ; p I’m especially inspired by Nic’s pretty penmanship and straight lines that I just can not seem to master in my own letters!

Love this idea so much Pip. I’ve thought lots about it since you first started it, and am doing it too (in my own wonky way 🙂

I can really imagine writing back to Nic, that’s a super letter – so warm and so many points to respond to. I also love the purple ink and her handwriting! I also used to write hundreds of letters (350 + one year when I was a teen and kept a log) but apart from my thank you cards after Christmas I can’t honestly remember the last time I wrote one. I need to rectify this!

I’m loving reading all of these letters! Such a wonderful project Pip. I’m hoping to get something written to you this year sometime. I loved Lauren’s letter – it really spoke to me. I can relate to so many of the things she wrote. The 52 weeks of gratitude is a beautiful idea. From another ’20 something’ year old who likes Nanna crafts and big cups of tea xx

I am intrigued by Chloe’s letter. I do hope she finds some satisfaction for her efforts. Perhaps we will find out. She might let you know even if you don’t publish her response. Thanks for sharing Pip and keep up the inspiration.

Loving the colours in Lyn’s letter 🙂
I’m aiming to write the most beautiful colourful letter to people (mostly of gratitude) that you’ve ever seen 🙂 I’m inspired!

All of the letters are beautiful (but I especially love Nic’s! So heartfelt!). [I’m now wondering what your 52 lists project is/was as it sounds really great!]……

Nic, will you PLEASE be my pen pal?? What a wonderful letter writer you are. I totally agree about the heartfelt thing too.
Wow, thanks for doing this project Pip and letting us read these amazing letters.
And Sarah, Lyn, Chloe and Lauren I think your letters are super sweet and newsy too. Isn’t it incredible how a blog from someone can inspire you to do something you’ve wanted or needed to do? How lucky are we?!
Lauren, your project is fantastic – I like that you say you want to be a woman of substance. Writing that tells me you already are.
Thanks ladies, your letters, and your words, have given me a boost this afternoon.
I think I’ll use some of my first pay from my new job to buy some stationery supplies and get writng.
