glitter piledots ideas for 2015 52 hellos dot

Hello pals!

It’s time for #52hellos! And this is the very first week of letters! So cool.

(If you’re not sure what #52hellos is head here for details).

This week I’m featuring two hellos. The first one (above) is from Dot.

Dot wrote her letter from Canberra after living in Perth for a while. I won’t show you all of the letter (because some things are just between letter writers and letter receivers, you know?) but I wanted to share Dot’s ideas for a happy 2015. She wrote a bit about the importance of not relying on other people for your happiness, and I totally agree!  Thanks for the ace reminder, Dot. Thanks for writing such a lovely, personal letter too.

I’m going to use 2015 to learn (re-learn?) how to find my own happiness, and I’ve got some ideas.
1. 365 days – use my social media to share 3 great things about each day (mindfulness)
2. Create and give – I love to knit, crochet, sew, so I’m going to finish setting up my space and then MAKE time to create
3. Explore – I adore Canberra! I’m a very proud Canberran, so I’m going to make Saturdays about trying out new cafes, restaurants, galleries, parks etc
4. Be entertained – rather than find people to do things with (waiting on people to check their dairies can take ages!) I’m just going to buy a ticket to the things I want to do and do them on my own!
extract from Dot from Canberra’s hello

The other hello is from Pat (Dot + Pat! Cute 3 letter names!) – below

Pat sent a sweet, little note with some tiny treasures tucked inside. It was so nice to see those stamps from Thailand (how pretty are they compared to Australian stamps?!) So ace to open up a cheery pop of cuteness! The tiny paper crane is so adorable! How did you do that?! Thanks so much Pat!

Hello!
I’m Pat from Bangkok, Thailand. This is my first time send happy mail to someone who is not my friend (in relay life, haha). Hope you like my little things I send. Best, Pat

If you’d like to send me a hello the details on how to do that are here.

I’m going to settle down and write my letter for this week later this afternoon. It’s a rainy, stormy, humid day so it’s the perfect stay inside and get writing kind of occasion. If you want to start #52hellos and write a letter to someone in your life (or not) each week you can get started anytime! I’m writing one a week – starting this week – but you could start at anytime during the year and count 52 from then! Or write more than one letter a week, if you are amazing!

Send your messages and comments about these cute hellos to me, Dot or Pat in the comments below!

My favourite comment of the week will win a special ’52hellos’ mini-cuteness-package from me! Off you go!

x Pip

    Hello Everyone,
This is something new for me, which I absolutely adore about your website. Strangers sending letters sharing the moments of their life is so cheerful to read. Thank You for sharing some of these letters with us. They just make my day. I am really inspired by Dot’s letter, she knows how to spend her weekends definitely.

Thank you for this comment, and for bringing me back to this post. It was such a fun project and a lovely way to connect with all kinds of people … including YOU! x

    Hello!!!
Dot dashed over to Pat to tell her that the mail had arrived. Pat raced out to the mailbox to see what the postie had delivered.
“52 Hellos? Whatever can that be?”, she thought to herself. Pat quickly opened the letter and read it excitedly, the letter was from her friend Pip in Australia. By the end of the leter she was pleasantly surprised by all the warm fuzzies she felt and vowed to write a letter to her bestie whom she hadn’t seen in many moons due to a rather large ocean getting in the way.
    Big Love xxx

Cute hellos! Makes me want to steal all my kids’ stickers and scented textas and write to all my friends! 🙂

Fun! I’m looking forward to seeing what shows up in your post and from where in the world. Perhaps you could also post a simple list of first name and country of the other letters you receive so we can know when/if our letter arrived and how many people are participating in your project? It’s rainy and stormy here also but cold, too and the dog must be walked! Cheers.

I’m photographing the letters that arrive and sharing them too, never fear! There is a plan in place! (I’m an old hand at this stuff and I know how important it is to document this stuff, esp when people take the time to write!) x

    Hi Pip,

I’m so glad that you enjoyed my letter, it was VERY cathartic to write, so thanks for listening/reading!

Thanks so much to everyone who commented on my plan for 2015, I hope that you have as much fun exploring your place and doing things on your own as I am! I’ve started a blog to keep on track with my goals, and it’s only 8 days in, and it’s still school holidays (brilliant time for a teacher), but I feel really happy with myself, and positive towards the year ahead. If you’d like to read along, you are most welcome to follow at https://dotty2015.wordpress.com/ (hope it’s OK to use your blog to tell others about mine Pip!)

I’m planning on getting my second letter done tomorrow, not sure who to yet, but I can’t wait to just send a letter to someone!

Enjoy your #52Hellos everyone! And all the best for 2015!

    Dot (yep, short for Dorothy)

What lovely, lovely, lovely letters – and I bet your mailbox is pleased to hold something other than bills – I am sure mine would be.

    Hello (x1)

You know when the Universe (or your Twitter feed!) let’s in the sunshine your soul needs if and when you’re ready to bask in it? Well, that’s #52hellos for me today.

Dot, I love your gorgeous, down-to-earth, soul feeding challenges. Entertaining yourself is an awesome one, as is exploring more, both of which I will challenge myself to do more too.

Pat, opening yourself up to new people is such a fun and exciting adventure – enjoy and be proud for taking your first step.

Pip, thanks for truly being a big hearted business person challenging us all to slow down and consider what we want (and can) say to loved ones, acquaintances we want to know better, business people we crush on and organisations who rock our world.

    Love, love, love <3

I was just thinking yesterday I better get started with my 52 hellos but then procrastination set it 🙁 so it was a timely post to see this. I was trying to work out if last week was week 1 or this week and should I number each envelope that I send out, blah, blah, blah. Thanks for the kick up the bum 🙂 I shall just get to and start writing. Loved reading Dot & Pats letters and I just love the idea of snail mail. Thanks so much for this idea of 52 hellos xo

What I love most about your first two letters is that the senders have clearly thought about *what* to say and *how* to say it. Lovely words and colourful decorated pieces.

What cute, happy mail! I LOVE Dot’s goal to ‘be entertained’ and go to things alone. As much as it is great to have a blast with your friends I think it’s an important skill to develop to be able to do things on your own. I can’t wait to see some more letters – what a great idea to share a little snippet of inspiration in your mailbox with us. Thanks Pip!

I am loving #52hellos already! I can’t wait to see what the mailbox brings us each week! Hugs to you, Laura! Thanks for always taking the time to comment! xxx
